No, this is not a new photo of me! It is Dennis Turner, Chief Economist of HSBC, delivering an important speech at the New Model Adviser® Retreat 2010 on 9/10 September at the De Vere Grand Hotel, Brighton.
I was privileged to be present when he gave the speech. Dennis Turner is a fascinating character and a brilliant public speaker. His principal interests outside office hours are music (he has produced critiques of Van Morrison, Joe Cocker and Ray Charles) and football (he has produced the definitive history of Fulham Football Club), although I was most impressed by his claim to be word perfect in the entire output of the Marx Brothers!
The title of this Blog makes the assumption that we will not be heading back into recession, the famous ‘double-dip’, and that is Dennis Turner’s view. I have produced a précis of his talk as I feel that his outlook will be of interest for all of our clients and for anyone else who is investing for their future.
You can obtain a copy of the précis which I have produced in the form of a Guide: Post-Recession Economic Outlook via the front page of our website at www.arch-fp.co.uk.
